School Wide I am so excited to say that H. O. Brittingham is taking another step toward becoming a Leader in Me school. Last year we started on our journey and this year we will focus on new components that will teach the universal principles known as “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids”. What is The Leader in Me? The Leader in Me is Franklin Covey’s whole school transformation process. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader What are the 7 Habits of Happy Kids? The 7 Habits is a synthesis of universal, timeless principles of personal and interpersonal effectiveness, such as responsibility, vision, integrity, teamwork, collaboration and renewal, which are secular in nature and common to all people and cultures. See attached descriptions. Classroom Discipline Building community is the basis for a respectful, responsible, and safe classroom. Our goal is for each child to gain independence and self-confidence while learning social skills as well as academics. In order to build community, we will follow the guidelines of The Leader in Me school. Other Behavior Systems Used: 1. Daily Point Card- Every day your child will be sent home a point card. Please review it with your child and sign the bottom and return it to school. Take the time to praise your child for a good day and discuss areas of concern. 2. Fun Friday- Throughout the week, classroom behavior is recorded and a weekly earned cooking activity will be planned for Friday for students who meet the pre-determined criteria. 3.
